Igwe emerges new VC of UNN | The Guardian Nigeria News - Nigeria and World News

Governing Council of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) has appointed Prof. Charles Igwe as the new vice chancellor of the university. The appointment of Igwe, who takes over from Prof. Benjamin Ozumba next month, was announced yesterday by the pro-chancellor, Chief Mike Olorunfemi, after a transparent selection process by the governing council. The new VC, who is the current Deputy VC (Administration) of the university, is a professor of Soil Science in the Faculty of Agriculture. Born in Awka, Anambra State, on August 23, 1958, Igwe joined UNN in 1976 as a soil survey assistant. He once represented UNN’s senate in the governing council and had also served as the director of UNN Advancement Centre.
